Parking - Chemin de l’Etang in Vernier

SPIE MTS reference car park Vernier 2

Context & Description of Services

The Étang district, one of the largest urban redevelopment projects in the Geneva metropolitan area, comprises six blocks including three main parking facilities (A, D, F), totaling 2,500 parking spaces. As part of this project, SPIE carried out the installation of the Parkeyes (TKH) guidance system, an innovative parking management solution based on intelligent monitoring and incident traceability.

Each parking space is equipped with a camera connected to a light-based guidance system (red and green LEDs), facilitating the detection of available spaces and thereby improving the user experience. The system offers advanced features:

  • Vehicle location: Users can locate their vehicle by entering their license plate number at an interactive terminal or via a mobile application.
  • Alerts for incorrect parking: The system notifies the operator in the event of irregular parking, such as a vehicle occupying multiple spaces.
  • Incident management: The cameras enable quick resolution of disputes between users or incidents related to inconsiderate parking.
  • Theft prevention: The system contributes to parking security by monitoring suspicious vehicles.
  • Grey-list plate alerts: Operators are immediately notified of the presence of vehicles associated with license plates previously registered on a watch list.
  • (Option) Facial recognition: The system can be configured to alert operators to the presence of wanted individuals, further enhancing security.

The Challenges

The success of this project relies on several challenges:

  • Multicultural coordination: The project involved international teams from Spain, France, and Switzerland, working in English to ensure proper coordination across the various phases.
  • On-site technical adaptation: The installation of mounting rails required close collaboration with other trades, such as ventilation and plumbing, to ensure optimal integration.
  • First large-scale installation: The Étang district is the first large-scale project to use the Parkeyes (TKH) solution, demonstrating our teams' technical expertise and their ability to adapt to the specific requirements of the site.
