ALIGNING IT SYSTEMS AND CORPORATE VALUES
Digitalisation has become a key requirement for business performance, yet its ecological and social footprint poses a societal challenge. Organisations must therefore rethink their digital practices. As part of its commitment to sustainable community catering, Eldora AG has integrated this approach into its values to ensure that its information system contributes to sustainability.
THE CHALLENGE
Eldora AG, a leading Swiss provider of responsible community catering, is committed to reducing food waste, promoting regional products, and optimising resource use. As part of its continuous improvement process, Eldora wanted to assess the maturity level of its information system with regard to the responsible use of digital technology, in order to align its digital practices with its ethical, social, and environmental values.
OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this initiative were to conduct a structured assessment of maturity in the area of sustainable IT, to identify strengths and areas for improvement based on recognised frameworks, and, finally, to develop a strategic roadmap to accelerate the transition towards a more responsible digital world.
THE SOLUTION
SPIE ICS supported Eldora in assessing the maturity level of sustainable IT, based on a proven, industry-specific analysis framework. The assessment covered five key areas: governance and strategy, commitments, projects, sustainable procurement, and digital use. The process included document analysis, workshops with key stakeholders (IT managers, sustainability managers, members of the executive board), a multi-criteria evaluation according to recognised standards (e.g. INR, Green Association IT), as well as the development of quick wins and strategic recommendations.
"This initial maturity assessment in the area of sustainable IT reflects our social and environmental commitment. Thanks to a structured approach and support that combined expertise and dedication, we now have a comprehensive and clear overview. The objectives have been achieved, and the identified opportunities for improvement will guide the further development of our organisation to reduce our digital footprint—in line with Eldora’s values."
